I had an image stuck in my head for about a year, but I had never painted before so didn't act on it until I saw some vivid, abstract art in a friend's home and thought, "I could do that!" I went to the art store got one paint brush, three paints and one 48x48 canvas. I went home and put it on my wall to paint since I didn't have an easel. I was satisfied with it and didn't paint again for several years. Acrylic abstract on gallery, stretched, canvas. Deep reds and lots of texture.
